Events: Marching Down Memory Lane with Sousa

... The renowned “March King” died in Reading March 6, 1932, on the eve of a concert he was to conduct for the 80th anniversary of Berks County’s own Ringgold Band.

Sousa died of a heart attack in a room on the 14th floor of the Abraham Lincoln Hotel, which is now the Abraham Lincoln A Wyndham Historic Hotel, Fifth and Washington streets.

To mark the 75th anniversary of his death, a dinner and a Ringgold Band concert will be held Tuesday in the hotel.
